This project is dedicated to VUFKU (All-Ukrainian Photo Cinema Administration), a groundbreaking avant-garde Ukrainian film collective that operated between 1922 and 1930. Despite its short existence, VUFKU revolutionized filmmaking by introducing innovative cinematic techniques, producing over 140 fiction films, hundreds of documentaries and newsreels, and pioneering Ukrainian animation. Often referred to as "Ukrainian Hollywood," VUFKU controlled all aspects of cinema, from production and distribution to film education and propaganda.
This project is a visual tribute to Dziga Vertov, one of the most visionary figures of early cinema and a key member of VUFKU. Best known for his groundbreaking film Man with a Movie Camera (1929), Vertov pioneered the "kino-eye" theory, using radical editing, experimental angles, and dynamic montage to capture life in motion. His work reshaped documentary filmmaking, influencing generations of filmmakers.
